1-st Part link as above!

2nd Part

START OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP
The championship, which this year started on August 22nd, even with the heat of summer days, showed that in the first week the rival duo Partizani and Vllaznia. The Reds, who actually played on August 23rd, win cleanly against Traktori 3-0, while Vllaznia won a rockabilly victory in Stalin City against Naftetari 4-3.

But in the second week, Partizani lost 1-0 to Flamurtari in Vlora and Vllaznia was held 0-0 in Elbasan. This week the card match is the Derby Dinamo–17 Nentori 3-4, 7 goals and all in the second half. Lokomotiva's heavy 6-0 victory over Naftetari stands out. 4 teams will be the leaders of the classification, all with 4 points, but divided according to goal difference: Lokomotiva (+8), 17 Nentori, (+3), Tomorri (+3), and Flamurtari (+2). The three contenders Vllaznia, Partizani and Dinamo share the 5th, 6th, 7th places respectively.

In the third week, played on September 5, 1982, the victory of 17 Nentori (6-2) over Traktori stands out, who win the top of the table thanks to the goal difference in these first three weeks (+7). In second place is the surprise Tomorri with a full 6 points (+4), they this week have defeated the great Dinamo in Berat 1-0. Partizani, although they win 3-1 over Luftetari, is in 5th place with 4 points, the same as Vllaznia, which does not go further than 0-0 in Shkoder against Besa. Others: Flamurtari 0-0 in Lezha, as well as Lokomotiva in Korca. Finally, Naftetari and what a victory over Labinoti 3-0 in Kucove.

In the 4th week, 17 Nentori and Tomorri continue to lead, but with 7 points each. Tirana achieves a spectacular draw in Vlora against Flamurtari (3-3), while Tomorri leaves Lushnja with a dry 0-0. The Lokomotiva - Partizani match also ends in a draw. In the most important match of the week, in Tirana, Vllaznia defeats Dinamo 3-2 in a match for strong hearts until the last minutes. Lokomotiva, Vllaznia and Flamurtari follow the two leaders with 6 points each, while Partizani comes after them with 5 points. In 11th place is Dinamo, with only 2 points in these 4 weeks. The standings are closed by Beselidhja and Labinoti with 1 point, both teams have not won yet.

In the 5th week, 4 matches are played on September 26, and the other three on October 6 due to the commitment of 17 Nentori and Dinamo in the European Cups. Lokomotiva is leading with 8 points after the minimal victory in Lezha against Beselidhja (1-0), the same number of points is also held by Vllaznia who displays a beautiful technical and explosive football by liquidating Traktori in Shkoder 4-0. Partizani wins in Tirana against Skenderbeu 2-0 but is 1 point behind Vllaznia in 4th place with equal points with 17 Nentori which on October 6 in the recovery match will lose 0-1 in Tirana against Luftetari of S. Braho, Seiti and Kalluci….

17 Nentori - Tirana!

Also in the other two recovery matches, Tomorri draws 1-1 against Flamurtari in Berat and the same is the result of Dinamo in Elbasan (1-1). In the end, the duo of Beselidhja and Labinoti continues with 1 point. One point more than them is Dinamo, which holds the 12th place in these 5 weeks.

It is October 3rd when the 6th week is played. Lokomotiva with a goalless draw 0-0 against 17 Nentori in Durres manages to keep the top of the standings with 9 points. Partizani cannot pass Naftetari in Tirana (0-0), Vllaznia completely loses the compass in Vlora (2-1). Now there are 5 teams with 8 points each sharing second place due to goal difference and that ranks them as follows: 17 Nentori (+7), Partizani (+6), Vllaznia (+5), Tomorri (+4), Flamurtari (+3). Finally Dinamo shows its strength! 4-1 in Tirana against Besa. Labinoti achieves its first victory 2-1 in Lushnje, leaving Beselidhja last after another defeat of “lezhjaneve” in Korca 3-0.

Lokomotiva Team of Durres...

Week 7, which is played on October 10, marks a rare and almost unbelievable fact. There are 6 leading teams with 10 points each! Such a balance has never been seen in the Albanian football championships and perhaps not only! Lokomotiva (+9) that drew 0-0 in Berat, 17 Nentori and Partizani (+7), after victories respectively 3-2 from Skenderbeu in Tirana and 0-1 in Lezha against Beselidhja. Vllaznia (+6), after a 1-0 victory in Shkoder against Luftetari, Tomorri (+4), Flamurtari (+3), after a 1-1 draw in Elbasan.

Lokomotiva's goal difference of 10-1 stands out, so only one goal conceded in 7 weeks, where the young goalkeeper Agim Maliqati, the son of the great Sulejman Maliqati, stands out. Dinamo loses 1-0 in Stalin City to Naftetari, and Beselidhja, which has scored only one goal, continues without a win (6 losses and one draw) and remains at the end with only 1 point.

Three matches of the 8th week, which is played on October 17, were held on November 3, due to the commitment of the Albanian representative teams, Kombetarja and Shpresa (U21),

The schedule this week will be without the matches of the 6 teams, three of which are contenders for the title and two direct challenges between them, Partizani-17 Nentori and Lokomotiva - Vllaznia.

Flamurtari, benefits and with the minimal victory 1-0 defeats Besa in Vlora, becoming the leader this week with 12 points. Behind it, 5 teams with 10 points, like a week ago. Nothing else to note except the loss of Tomorri in Korca (1-0) and above all the first victory of Beselidhja 1-0, against their rivals for survival, Naftetari. Now Traktori remains last, but with one less match.

Week 9 takes place on October 31, but there are still three games from week 8 to recover. 17 Nentori, after the 3-1 victory against Beselidhja, Tomorri who also beat Partizan 3-1 in Berat and Flamurtari who lost in Tirana against Dinamo (2-0), are the three leaders with 12 points this week, the surprise of which is that Partizan lost, despite having one game less.

Vllaznia draws 2-2 in Korca and alone holds 4th place with 11 points. Lokomotiva's loss in Elbasan (2-1) is also noteworthy, dropping it to 5th place with 10 points, the same as Partizan and Luftetari.
At the end are Traktori and Beselidhja.

After the 10th week, which is played on November 7, where all matches have already been played, 17 Nentori and Vllaznia are leading with 14 points, but with a goal difference of +11, Tirana is in first place.

The most important match of the week is won by the team from Shkodra in Tirana against Partizan 2-0 with goals from Luci and Bushati, and this will mark the turning point for Vllaznia, who are throwing their cards for the title, while Partizan until now has only been up and down so far but is only 2 points away from the leading duo.

Flamurtari is stopped in Vlora by Traktori 0-0, Lokomotiva – Besa draws (1-1), Luftetari – Dinamo (1-1), while Beselidhja cleanly defeats Tomorr 3-0 in Lezha and continues to remain last.

Tomorri of Berat

The 11th week of November 14 will be the week of draws among the pretenders. In Berat, 17 Nentori is divided without goals 0-0, just like Partizani in Elbasan (0-0). A draw for Vllaznia (1-1) in Shkoder in the northern derby against Beselidhja where the dangerous striker Fehmi Rama and goalkeeper Gezim Hasku stand out.

In Berat, Cilingiri honoring a special Tomorri fan!

This week also holds two surprises, the loss of Flamurtari in Stalin City 2-0, as well as that of Dinamo in Tirana (0-1) against Lokomotiva. Beautiful victory of Traktori (3-1) against Luftetari.

The lead of Vllaznia and 17 Nentori continues unchanged as the bottom of the standings remains the same with Traktori (8 points) and Beselidhja (6 points). Disappointing so far the form and appearance of Dinamo and Besa.

17 Nentori

Only 4 goals are scored this week, a negative record. It is November 21, 1982 when the most important match of the 12th week is played at the national stadium "Qemal Stafa", the clash between the two leaders 17 Nentori - Vllaznia, a challenge that ends in favor of the Tirana team 1-0, making them the only team to lead with 17 points.

Vllaznia, in Tirana before the match against 17 Nentori

Immediately after 17 Nentori, it is Lokomotiva that returns to the top of the table by defeating Traktori in Durres this week 2-0. Although Partizan's 1-0 victory against Besa is enough to position coach Birce's boys in third place with 15 points, the same as Vllaznia (+7) which has a better goal difference than Partizan (+5). The other four matches are all 0-0. Derby of Myzeqe, Tomorri-Naftetari, that of Laberia, Luftetari-Flamurtari and Beselidhja – Labinoti. The bottom of the table continued to remain unchanged.

The last week of the first round of the championship, which is played on November 28, the day of independence and the flag of Albania, brings surprises in itself.

Vllaznia is the Winter Champions 1982-1983 Vukata, S. Gruda, Zmijani, Pali, Boshnjaku, Dedja, Canga - Jera, Borshi, F. Rragami, A. Hafizi

Everyone is focused on the Dinamo-Partizani derby that ends in a 1-1 draw. However, in Elbasan, Labinoti broke 17 Nentori, 3-0, causing the latter to lose the lead and the title of Winter Champions that goes to Shkoder to Vllaznia, which beats Tomorri 3-0 in a packed “Vojo Kushi” stadium, although with equal points of 17 as Tirana has, but thanks to a better goal difference!

Even though it loses in Vlora, 2-0, the renovated Lokomotiva with the Ballgjini brothers and striker Hado remains in third place with 16 points, the same as Partizani, who continues to stay nearby, under observation like a predator ready to jump into action.

At the bottom of the table, Traktori has now lost 13th place to Besa, while Beselidhja is still last. Dinamo's position at the end of the first phase is also very disappointing, in 11th place with 11 points and an anemic goal difference of 15-14.

* * *

The second phase and the 14th week resumes on February 13, 1983, not without surprises. They are the draws of 17 Nentori, 1-1 in Kavaje against Besa, and Partizan also 1-1 in Lushnje. Of the contenders, only Vllaznia starts the second phase well with a victory, a 4-0 in Shkoder against Naftetari and now leading alone with 19 points. Meanwhile, Flamurtari climbs to third place after the victory in Vlora 3-2 against Skenderbeu.
Minimal victory of Dinamo 1-0 in Tirana against Beselidhja that continues at the bottom of the standings.

February 29, 1983! In the 15th week, even though Vllaznia drew 0-0 at “Vojo Kushi” against Labinoti, it maintains the top of the standings thanks to another draw in the derby between 17 Nentori and Dinamo (1-1)! A draw in the other main match of this week, but without goals between Partizan and Flamurtari.

The classification now reads as follows:
1. Vllaznia alone has 20 points, 2. 17 Nentori and Flamurtari have 19 points.
3. Partizan with 18 points, which are now 4 confirmed teams aiming for the championship title.

At the end of the classification, Beslidhja after a 3-0 victory against Traktori and Besa who lost 2-1 in Berat, have 10 points each. It is a very interesting championship, quite balanced especially in the fight for the title.

In the 16th week, played on February 27, 1983, Vllaznia returns from Kavaja with a goalless draw 0-0, making it possible to now share first place with 17 Nentori, who in turn go and win 1-0 in Lushnje. Flamurtari also seems to have all the cards to be champions this year. They win 2-1 in Vlora against Beselidhja  and draw points with Vllaznia and 17 Nentori.

There are now three contenders for the title who share first place with 21 points, except Vllaznia has the better goal difference (+14) over Tirana (+10) and over Flamurtari (+4).

Partizan loses ground by falling in Gjirokaster (1-0) against Luftetari and falls to 4th place, while drawing level on points (18) with Lokomotiva which wins (1-0) against Skenderbeu. Dinamo climbs in the standings after a disappointing first phase. This week they win in Tirana 1-0 against Tomorri!

In the last places in the fight for survival, Besa thanks to the goal difference (-8) with 11 points, this week has left Traktori with 11 points (-14) and Beselidhja with 10 points (-4) in 13th and 14th places respectively.

On March 6, 1983, in week 17, we have a change of leadership. Three draws in a row for Shkodra. Vllaznia cannot win against Dinamo in “Vojo Kushi” (1-1) and loses first place to 17 Nentori who defeats 3-0 in Tirana, their other direct rival Flamurtari. Partizani scores 4 goals against Lokomotiva (4-0), but remains in 4th place with 20 points.
The classification reads as follows:
1. 17 Nentori 23 points; 2. Vllaznia 22 points; 3. Flamurtari 21 points;
4. Partizani 20 points.

At the bottom of the standings, the traveling Traktori won the Myzeqar derby in Berat 1-0, while Beselidhja shared a scoreless draw in Lezha (0-0) against Luftetari, and Besa lost outright in Elbasan (1-0).
Now Traktori in 12th place has 13 points, Beselidhja and Besa, respectively in 13th and 14th places, have 11 points each.

There are still 8 weeks left until the end of this season full of emotions and rivalry, and it must be said that from this week until the end, the championship enters and becomes even more interesting to follow. So far, Partizani has joined the leading duo of Vllaznia and 17 Nentori, while Flamurtari is losing some ground behind.

Week 18 is played on March 13, 1983.
This week we have 5 draws and two wins. 4 of the draws are goalless 0-0.
8 is the number of goals scored in the 7 matches of this week where 5 goals were scored only in Kavaje with the victory of Besa 3-2 against Naftetari who always has an attacking accent.

The four contenders do not go further than a goalless result, thus leaving Vllaznia in Lushnje, 17 Nentori in Gjirokaster, Partizani in Korce, and Flamurtari in Vlora against Tomorri. Only 0-0! Thus, with draws leaving the ranking table without any change for this week.

Week 19. Three contender's wins. 17 Nentori wins over Lokomotiva (2-1) in Tirana, Partizani 1-0 in Stalin City, and Vllaznia over Flamurtari in Shkoder 2-0 in the most important match of the week.
The standings are as follows: 17 Nentori 26 points, Vllaznia 25, Partizani 23, Flamurtari 22!

Vllaznia line up in its town, Shkodra, in front of their fans!

With a victory (3-2) in Kavaje, Dinamo is now in 5th place with 20 points, tying Labinoti and Lokomotiva with the same number of points.

At the end of standings, for the moment, there are three teams fighting for survival in the first category: Traktori has 15 points, Besa 13 and Beselidhja 12, respectively in 12th, 13th, 14th places!

On April 3, 1983, when the 20th week was played, both leaders lost.
17 Nentori 2-0 in Korce and Vllaznia 1-0 in Gjirokaster, suffering the third defeat in this championship. Partizani takes advantage, and beats Beselidhja 2-0 in Tirana. Now no one can stop the momentum of the reds who enjoy the best form of all. Flamurtari, who is fourth in the standings, beats Labinoti 3-0 in Vlora, being two points away from the leader.

Now the standings become very interesting. The fight for the title becomes open among the 4 teams. 17 Nentori continues the lead with 26 points and right behind it, Vllaznia and Partizani (25) have one point less. Flamurtari is chasing the trio with 24 points.

The end of the table this week also brings a change in positions. Here too, the number of teams playing for survival becomes 4. Naftetari, Besa, Traktori and Beselidhja! In the direct match between the rivals, Besa wins in Lushnje 1-0, moving up to 12th place with equal points as Traktori (15), but with a better goal difference. Naftetari with 16 points, who lost in Tirana against Dinamo (1-0), now feels the breath of Besa and Traktori from close range. Beselidhja is the most endangered, closing the ranking in 14th place with 12 points.

Traktori , Lushnja team!

It is April 10, 1983, when the 21st week is played, the date that 17 Nentori, after losing the derby to Partizan (0-1), also loses the top spot of the table.

Partizan's third consecutive victory sends them to the top of the standings, although with equal points with Vllaznia (27 points), which in turn wins 1-0 in Shkoder against Lokomotiva.

Vllaznia has a goal difference of + 16 to Partizan's +12, and from this week, the historic duel of both to win the title begins, but 17 nentori will also be there as a third party ready to take advantage of the wrong steps of the two opponents, but in the last week they will be the ones who will pave the way….

Like Tirana, Flamurtari also loses ground again when they lose in Kavaje 2-1 to Besa who reacts by somehow escaping the hot zone of relegation from the category. They draw with points (17) Naftetari who in the direct match with Beselidhja does not go further than a poor 0-0. Traktori also reacts and gets a draw (1-1) with Dinamo in Tirana, but still has 16 points in 13th place. Beselidhja's fate seems to be decided, in last place with 13 points.

April 17, 1983!
Week 22 favors Partizan, which reaches the top and leads the classification table, after a 1-0 victory over Tomori in Tirana. A very difficult match and characterized by controversy where Genci Tomori scores in the 87th minute. The Beratas players who had resisted until that moment do not agree with the referee who is getting the situation a little out of hands.

Tomori and Lika, two main attack players, also members of the National Team, are excluded for Partizan, and both miss the gathering with the representative against the next match against Northern Ireland. However, Partizan leads alone but this success will prove provisional.

Partizan, the team representing the Albanian People's Army

Vllaznia falls (2-0) in Korce and loses first place. 17 Nentori another stoppage. Beselidhja, which is in trouble for its existence in the first category, despite its efforts, only manages to get a goalless draw (0-0). Flamurtari in Vlora defeats Dinamo 2-0, but now the fight for the title is between Partizan (29 points), Vllaznia and 17 Nentori, who both have 27 points.

The situation in the last 4 places is very interesting.
A 3-2 victory of Traktori (18 points) over direct rival Naftetari puts the latter in trouble, who have 17 points in 13th place, together with Besa, which thanks to goal difference is in 12th place.

May 1, 1983, in the 23rd week, three weeks to the end, the most important match not only of the week, but of this entire season will be played in Shkoder. In the packed stadium, the direct match that will decide over 90% of the championship title takes place. Vllaznia – Partizani.

Vllaznia - Partizani in Shkoder

It seems that both teams are saying to each other “here we are again in the next challenge” … and what challenge is this of this season!!!

Something has happened in the ranks of Partizan. Why do they play more absentees in the most decisive match of the championship?

Both teams, under the direction of referees Dhori Prifti, R. Abegu and S. Kosti, take to the field with these formations:

VLLAZNIA: Sukaj (Kushe), Zmijani, Rragami, Pali, Dedja, Borshi, Hafizi, Jera, Vukatana, Fakja, Gruda.
COACH: R.Rragami.

PARTIZANI: Lekbello (Musta) Starova, Meçe, Beliu (Zhupa), Ocelli, Ferko, Haxhiu, Lazametaj, Duro, Gëzdari, Mançe.
COACH: Bejkush Birçe.

And Vllaznia wins with full merit 4-1. Shkodran's momentum is already in the first minutes when they score by Jera in the 15th minute. 6 minutes later Partizani equalized by Haxhiu 1-1, but not much time passed and in the 31st and 36th minutes Vukatana put Vllaznia ahead 3-1, the results that closed the first 45 minutes. In the 81st minute S. Gruda sealed the final score 4-1.

Partizan has felt the absence of more than half of the team. To fix something in the second half, coach Birce decides to put Musta in goal, but he alone can't do anything in the absence of others like Eksarko and Hysi (injured), Ahmetaj and Lame (with the punishment measure from the coach), Tomori and Lika (disqualified with red cards a match earlier) as well as Vladimir Skuro.

But what happened to Partizan and why this whim of the strict coach Bejkush Birce to punish three key players of his team? Was that punitive measure a whim or an injustice from his players and the Albanian representative?

Musta, Ahmetaj, Lame as well as Eksarko and Hysi (who were injured) engaged with the Albanian national team, after returning from Belfast, did not show up in Durres, the place where Partizani had gathered the day before the decisive match against Vllaznia. The three players fled to Tirana to their families in defiance of the coach's call. Such an action, the underestimation of the coach's word, causes a harsh reaction which immediately takes the punitive measure for not activating them.

Tension is created so much that the matter goes to the ministry where the high-ranking military officers order the return of the basic players to the formation, but Birce continues to insist on his measure. Birce does not even accept the pleas of Musta and Ahmetaj to cut their salaries, only to return to the formation in the match against Vllaznia. And “thanks” to this extremely strict measure, Partizani loses the points that would later be worth winning the championship title.

It is a fact that few can believe, and in reality, how is it possible that the work done, the effort and the sacrifice of a year to win the title are left to the mercy of fate by a stubborn person?

Years later, coach Bejkush Birce himself will testify that the fault for losing that title was his. Regarding this unexpected issue, in the pages of the newspaper "Sporti Popullor" there was an article with the title "Why did the coaches act like this and why do the clubs agree with such positions...?"

That week neither Targaj nor Luarasi nor any other players who were members of the Albanian representative team that the coaches had not activated played with their teams.

What about the others? 17 Nëntori wins in Kucove 1-0 while the classification has three leaders with 29 points but who share the first three places thanks to goal difference.
Thus we have:
1. Vllaznia +17; 2. 17 Nëntori +12; 3. Partizani +10.

Luftetari has reached 4th place after that 3-1 victory in Tirana this week against Dinamo. They have 26 points, as much as Flamurtari who lost 1-0 in Lushnje to Traktori who is moving away from the dangerous survival zone.

Besa also wins the derby of central Albania 2-0 against Lokomotiva in Kavaja, positioning itself in 12th place with 19 points.
Beselidhja achieves another goalless draw (0-0 in Berat) but remains at the end with 15 points, two less than Naftetari who has 17 and is now in 13th place, postion which leads to the second category.

May 15!
After the matches of the 24th week, the championship continues to have three separate leaders thanks to the goal difference. Vllaznia who won in Lezha (1-0) (+18); Partizani (+14) scores 4-0 to Labinoti after having let out all the nerves of the defeat a week earlier in Shkoder and the great chance to win the title; 17 Nentori (+14) after winning in Tirana against Tomorri 2-0.

Such a championship with three leaders, two weeks towards the end, extremely interesting and balanced, few can have in Europe, without exaggeration, perhaps that of Serie “A”, or the Premier League in England. This shows the level and quality of the Albanian championship.

Three points behind are Luftetari who defeated (2-0) Traktori in Gjirokaster and Flamurtari after a 3-0 win against Naftetari in Vlora, with 28 points!

Dinamo after a rise, again loses ground. This time they were defeated by Lokomotiva (3-1) in Durres. They have 4 matches without winning (3 losses and a draw);

In the last 4 places of survival, only Besa manages a draw (1-1) in Korce. Meanwhile, Beselidhja mathematically falls to the second category after this defeat. Naftetari, defeated again this week, with 17 points in 13th place, has the highest percentage to accompany it. Besa in 11th place and Traktori in 12th place have 20 points each, but they still do not feel safe.

May 22, 1983. Week 25!

In the "Vojo Kushi" Stadium as well as in Kavaja, the two decisive matches for the championship title are played. Whoever wins from the three leaders, Vllaznia, 17 Nentori or Partizani has the greatest chance of being the champion when there are 180 minutes of championship left. However, after a beautiful and emotional challenge in Shkoder, 17 Nentori and Vllaznia both draw 2-2, while in Kavaja Partizan has closed the first half 1-0!

With this score, they are champions, but in the second half, after Partizan has two clear chances to raise the score to 2-0, the drama happens in the last minutes. A free kick for Besa, expertly executed by Bayazit (who entered the game in the second half), ties the game at 1-1, meaning three teams are once again tied on 32 points each.

During the break of the match in Kavaje, former cabinet minister of the Albanian People's Party (PPSH), and first secretary for Durres, comrade Muho Asllani, after following the progress of this dramatic championship and especially its last weeks, makes a phone call to the Besa staff. At first he asks why Bajaziti is not playing, among other things the best scorer of Besa and the current championship.

Further, M. Asllani (photo below) continues by warning "if Besa does not immediately put Bajaziti into the game and will not commit to the maximum, to stop Partizan (which was leading 1-0), the team and individuals will have further consequences"!!!

That is enough for the managers and players of Besa, the team that was in danger of falling from the category, to address the second half with another performance!

For Partizan after the match with Vllaznia, this one against Besa it was “the second match ball” / second chance to win the title that was not used well seeing that the two pretenders 17 Nentori-Vllaznia are separated by one point this week.

Everything about the title remains open in the last week, but this time nothing will be in Partizan's hands even if they win the match against Dinamo.

Who will accompany Beselidhja in the second category? Naftetari wins 3-1 against Tomori, but remains in 13th place, 2 points behind Traktori who, after a 2-2 draw in Lushnje against Lokomotiva, remains in 12th place with 21 points, the same as Besa, but with a goal difference less negative than Kavaja (-6 in 11th place). Here is the final week of the most exciting, most dramatic and most balanced championship, with three leaders until its final 90 minutes.

The beautiful show “From One Match to Another” hosted by journalist Ahmet Shqarri, shares the final emotions and dramatic moments with sports fans.

Vllaznia travels to Berat and wins 2-0. Partizani also wins against Dinamo (2-1). Meanwhile, 17 Nentori falls 1-2 to Labinoti in Tirana. The Elbasan team had defeated Tirana in the first phase also with a clean 3-0.

Vllaznia and Partizan are tied on 34 points, but thanks to the goal difference Vllaznia (+20) is the Champion of Albania.

It must be said that not only thanks to the goal difference, but they have defeated Partizan twice in the direct matches between them in this championship (2-0 and 4-1)!

The title slipped from Partizan's hands, and Vllaznia won it with full merit.

At the bottom of the table, Naftetari does not go further than a 2-2 draw in Gjirokaster against Luftetari and with 20 points remains in 13th place even though Traktori, which has 21 points, loses in Korce 2-1.

Naftetari the "Stalin City / Kucova" Team

Naftetari, in the two supplementary Play-Off matches, against Minatori of Tepelena, would manage to survive in the first category. The Kucova Team (Stalin City) won the first match 4-1 on June 5th, so even though they lost the return match (1-2) in Tepelena on June 12th, they will be among the 14 best Albanian teams again next season.

Vllaznia won the title of Champion for the 6th time
in the official post-war championships.

In the 26 matches played, they won 12 times, achieved 10 draws and lost only 4 times, with a goal difference of 39-19 (+20).
In second place was Partizani, with 34 points, the same as the winners of Shkodra, but with a goal difference of 32-17 (+15).
17 Nentori took third place with 32 points and a goal difference of 40-27 (+13).

The Vllaznia Team, Champions had this composition:
Gjergji Kushe, Genc Boshnjaku, Isa Sukaj
Bepin Pali, Hysen Dedja, Hysen Zmijani, Sait Canga;
Fatbardh Jera; Ferid Rragami; Viktor Briza, Fatmir Pacrami, Ferid Borshi,
Luan Vukatana, Astrit Hafizi,
Azis Gruda, Selman Gruda, Ardian Bushati, Roland Luci, Faslli Fakja
Coach: Ramazan Rragami and Esat Rrakiqi.

In this championship, 366 goals were scored with an average of 2.0 per match.
The best scorer of this championship was Dashnor Bajaziti (Besa) with 16 goals.

(Part one) Championship Season 1982-1983 | Vllaznia wins the title with a "photo finish" thanks to the goal difference against Partizan!

Prologue!
This season's championship has long been archived but remains in memory as perhaps the most balanced competition in history in winning the championship title, a championship that remained in question until the last seconds of the final week's matches, between the three teams Vllaznia, Partizani, and 17 Nentori with equal points!

Specially a beautiful, strong duel of Vllaznia – Partizani teams that have written the history of Albanian football. It is not for nothing that it can be said that “Football was born and raised in Shkoder but Partizan took it over and turned it into magic”!

Vllaznia and Partizani, old rivals that over the years have been characterized by love and hate, but in the end there has never been a lack of respect between them.

There are the 80s when fans of these two rivals often use te say: "There are three sevens in the world. Keegan, Hado and Popivoda" or "There are two teams in Albania, Partizani and Vllaznia"!

Two similar but also opposite teams! Love, hate, rivalry, friendship and of course respect!

Vllaznia in 1981 as the Winners of Republic Cup!

This season Vllaznia has a well-formed ensemble that displays technical and spectacular football, but the weak points are the goal and defense.
From the trio Boshnjaku, Sukaj and Kushe, the latter, who came from Korca, shows more security as a goalie.
The defense is made up of names such as Dedja, Pali, Canga, and the young Zmijani. The distinguished midfielder Ferid Rragami has returned to the Vllaznia team from Partizani, where together with the other starters Vukatana, Borshi, Jera, Briza and the experienced player Astrit Hafizi, they make up the midfield. The attack is built by Fakja, Pacrami, S.Gruda, Luci!
A big name in Albanian football like Ramazan Rragami leads them from the bench as the coach. Alongside him is Esat Rrakiqi as a second!

Partizani in this Season 1982-1983

While Partizan, which has always had a tradition of goalkeeping, (Musta and Lekbello) is solid and almost impenetrable in defense, an iron midfield and a fast counterattack, with a football where technical and physical skills are beautifully combined, highlighting rationality. It is not for nothing that 7 Partizan players are the basis of the Albanian National Team, not counting the others gathered with the “Shpresat” U21 team!

Musta, Eksarko, Hametaj, Hysi, Lame, Tomori, Lika! Among the base formation, many new players have also joined, in addition to Ferko who arrives from Flamurtari, Gezdari from 17 Nentori, Partizani has in its staff: the talent Ocelli, an attacking wing defender who plays with the Under 21 in the base formation, Duro, Lazemetaj, Beliu, Haxhiu, Mance as well as Eduard Zhupa, although young, he shows technical quality as a striker, promising for his future and the trust given to him by the red team!

History proves that many Shkodra natives from Vllaznia have played for Partizan, the ardent fans of which have never liked such transfers, especially when the loss was caused by the contribution of their sons.
Oh, Vllaznia! The love of Shkodra has always been the supplier of the three teams of Tirana, where Partizan has been the most chosen.

It is unnecessary to mention a long list of Shkodra footballers who have contributed to Partizan over the years, especially those of the 50s and 60s when the number of Shkodra players reached 5 (1961, with Shllaku, Kraja, Teli, Deda, Djepaxhia) in the organic composition of the red team, created as a representative of the army, which had this advantage by gathering players from all other teams in its ranks and thus preceding the wild campaign of the "trade" of players in the outside world of world football.

From the great Loro Borici, to the conductor and fantasist Bizi, from Lin Shllaku, and Ramazan Rragami to the other Ferid Rragami, nicknamed "The Woolf" by Partizan fans, and the last transfer of the 80s, Besnik Bilali, "Besa” of Shkodra for Partizan!

Perhaps few know it, but Vllaznia has also borrowed players from Partizan, although the cases have been few. The one who the people of Shkodra will call "15 storeys" (due to his height), Safet Berisha, has worn the Shkodra jersey as a reinforcement in the match against Austria Vienna in 1979 for the Champions Cup, as well as Sulejman Starova and Perlat Musta again as reinforcement in a match of Vllaznia in Vojvodina for the Balkan Cup, even Musta, 19 years old, has debuted on this occasion with Vllaznia in an international matches, and not with his former team Partizan.

Their match has always been a challenge of rivals, a real battle in championships and cups. Sweat, struggle, tears of joy and sorrow. Tests of strength and handshakes!

Precisely this season too, there will be no lack of spectacle and every other element that such a duel of these two teams, Partizani and Vllaznia, offers, which of course have one thing in common, a great figure that connects and unites them in the history of Albanian football, the greates of all, Loro Borici!

In the 23rd week, the big clash between them will arrive, a final that was anticipated three weeks before the end of this season. A duel that Vllaznia wins with full merit and even with a convincing result (4-1), but that decisive match for the title, among other things, has remained full of light and shadow.

A Partizan that plays with a formation in the absence
of 6-7 starters (two sentenced with red cards, Tomorri and Lika, two others injured, Eksarko and Hysi, and the starting trio, Musta, Ahmetaj and Lame sentenced for a whim of coach Birce, right after the National team's commitment in Belfast against Northern Ireland!

For Partizan, the loss of the title was decided in the last two or three weeks between April 17 and May 22, 1983, which is also the date that marks the 1-1 draw in Kavaja against Besa a week before the end of the championship, which sealed everything, leaving an open wound even today after more than 40 years.

So, we will talk more about what really happened in this article!

Verge of the season!
The summer of 1982.
It is the year when the "Azzurra" team, Italy of Rossi, Conti, Zoff, Cabrini... led by the strategist Enzo Bearzot, has just won the most prestigious world champion title, after defeating all the pretenders and the great schools of world football, Argentina, Brazil and West Germany!

Meanwhile, the Albanian national team, in the qualifiers for the World Cup in Spain `82, did not perform at the proper level. Placed in a group with West Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Finland, it had taken the penultimate place with only 2 points and a goal difference of 4-22.

On September 3, 1980, Albania had started quite well with a 2-0 victory against Finland in Tirana, which would be the only victory in these qualifiers.

The Albanian team had activated during these qualifiers the following players who were also the most prominent names of the time: Jani Kaci (Skenderbeu), Perlat Musta (Partizani), Millan Baci (17 Nentori), Safet Berisha (Partizani), Kastriot Hysi (Partizani), Muhedin Targaj (Dinamo), Kreshnik Cipi (Flamurtari), Kujtim Cocoli (Dinamo), Ferid Rragami (Vllaznia),Haxhi Ballgjini (Partizani), Ferdinand Lleshi (Labinoti),Uran Xhafa (Flamurtari),Andrea Marko (Dinamo), Ilir Pernaska (Dinamo),Sefedin Braho (Luftetari),Vasillaq Zeri (Dinamo), Dashnor Bajaziti (Besa), Arben Minga (17 Nentori),Shyqyri Ballgjini (Dinamo); Ardian Popa (Labinoti), Roland Luci (Vllaznia), Agustin Kola (17 Nentori) led by coach Loro Borici.

Albania National Team before the match against West Germany in Tirana. VII European Championship Qualifying!

Meanwhile, the Albanian national team under the leadership of Sh. Rreli and R. Rragami, would naturally change its composition with new additions during the qualifiers for the European Championship in France 1984. The above-mentioned names will be added to: Ilir Luarasi (Dinamo); Ahmet Cumaku (Luftetari), Petro Ruci (Flamurtari); Arjan Hametaj (Partizani), Bregu (Dinamo), Arjan Bimo (17 Nentori), Hysen Dedja (Vllaznia), Bedri Omuri (17 Nentori), Luan Vukatana (Vllaznia), Sulejman Mema (17 Nentori), Xhaho (Flamurtari), Shkelqim Muca (17 Nentori) Genc Tomorri (Partizani), Hasan Lika (Partizani), Milutin Kercici (Skenderbeu) .

Albanian National Team 1983 (up from the left) A. Kasa, Medin Zhega (ass. coach), Ahmet Cumaku (Luftetari) ,Kristaq Eksarko (Partizani), Ilir Lame (Partizani), Arben Minga (17 Nentori), Arjan Ahmetaj (Partizani), Kastriot Hysi (Partizani), Haxhi Ballgjini (Lokomotiva), Perlat Musta Musta (Partizani), Shyqyri Rreli (Coach), Ll. Heqini. (down from the left) Bedri Omuri (17 Nentori), Sulejman Mema (17 Nentori), Ferid Rragami (Vllaznia), Petro Ruci (Flamurtari), Genci Tomori (Partizani), Luan Vukatana (Vllaznia), Hysen Dedja (Vllaznia), Hasan Lika (Partizani)

In these qualifiers, Albania will be in a group with West Germany, Austria, Northern Ireland and Turkey, taking last place in the group, with no wins, 2 draws and 6 losses, with an extremely negative goal difference of 4-14.

However, it is worth mentioning the two draws (0-0) against Northern Ireland in Tirana on December 15, 1982, against Turkey (1-1) also in Tirana, on May 11, 1983, as well as the two minimal losses (0-1) in N. Ireland, making a good presentation, and especially the match (1-2) against West Germany in Saarbrycken on November 20, 1983, a dignified match and the Albanians' concentration that scared the Germans until the last minutes.

For Albania, the best news and emotions of joy will come from the Under 21 team, or “Shpresat” (in Albanian). This team, in opposition to an iron group, manages to eliminate West Germany and qualify for the 8 best teams in Europe.

Albanian Under 21 Team (Shpresat)

Found in the same group with West Germany, Austria and Turkey, the Albanian Under 21 Team, will position itself in first place by defeating Austria 2-1 / 3-0, Turkey twice 1-0 / 1-0 and two draws 1-1 / 1-1, against the West Germans qualify them first in the group as never before and never before achieved by any Albanian football team to enter the finals of a European or world event.

Aspects from the match West Germany - Albania 1-1 played in Trier in 1983

Under 21 in the 6 matches played in the qualifiers will collect 10 points, 4 wins and two draws without any losses and a goal difference of 9-3. What makes it more successful is that the Albanian "Shpresa" were debutants in this edition of the European U21 Championship dominating the scene. In the finals of the continental trophy Albania will be stopped only by Italy after two minimum losses 0-1 (Vignola) / 0-1 (Monelli)!

But we will talk about this in a separate article.

Meanwhile, in the European Cups, Albania will be represented this season 1982-1983 by the champion “17 Nentori” in the Champions Cup and “Dinamo” as the winner of the Republic Cup in the Cup Winners' Cup.

Sept. 9-th, 1982! Belfast! Linfield-17 Nentori 2-1

17 Nentori after eliminating Linfield of Belfast, with the value of the goal in the opponent's field (1-0 Kola 74`, in Tirana on September 15 and 1-2, Minga in Belfast on September 29, 1982), refuses to play in the 1/16, against Dinamo of Kiev, receiving another penalty from UEFA.

Meanwhile, the other team, the winner of the Republic Cup, Dinamo, after losing the first match in Scotland 0-1 (with a goal by Hewitt in the 10th minute), against the strong team Aberdeen, in the return match in Tirana on September 29, 1982, despite the beautiful game and numerous efforts, it did not go further than a 0-0 scoreless draw, but which can be considered positive for the Albanian club.

Dinamo activated these players in the return match on September 29: Luarasi, Kuqi, Targaj, Dauti, (61`Noga), P. Ruci, Daiu, Gega, Canaj, Demollari (74` Agalliu), Marko, Zeri.

Until 1985, Albania frequently withdrew their allocated place in the UEFA Cup due to political reasons. This additional place went to the 9th placed association, Italy.

Labinoti, the surprise of Albanian football | The 38th National Championship of the 1983-1984 season!

 Prologue!

In the city of Elbasan, located in central Albania without any tradition as a major title winner in football, a miracle was about to happen. Labinoti, a small provincial football team, was about to embark on a journey that would defy the odds and destroy the status quo. For years, the championship title had been the exclusive domain of teams from big cities such as the Tirana and Shkodra axis with Partizani, Dinamo, Vllaznia, 17 Nentori.

They were the giants of the Albanian football world, the most privileged ones their lists filled with star players representing the National Football Teams of various categories. Goalkeepers and defenders like an unbreakable wall, creative and imaginative midfielders like the conductors of an orchestra, and talented strikers, experienced scorers, all semi-professionals and of course they had special food treatment in their respective clubs compared to teams from other cities.

The years 1983 and 1984 coincide with some historic achievements of the representative Albanian teams "Shpresat" (U16), which eliminates West Germany and enters the top 8 of Europe; meanwhile, the National Team with a 2-2 in Poland and 2-0 against Belgium becomes a contender for the World Cup finals, Mexico `86!

Opposite them was Labinoti, who dared, an “underdog” team that usually floated between the middle and bottom of the rankings in the first category championships and that did not have any names called up with the representatives.

Labinoti players were “outside”, isolated and lonely and so they had decided to fight alone against everyone, just as if they were conveying to Albanian football the message of the legend of David against Goliath, the power of faith, the importance of courage, and the value of not underestimating the abilities.

The team was created in 1929 under the name SK Elbasani and later, “Bashkimi Elbasanas”, “Puna” and until the glorious name "Labinoti" in 1957, with which it will remain in history and memory as the surprise of Albanian football with the only championship title of the 1983-1984 season.

They played in a modest stadium built in 1967, with a small capacity of 13.500 seats consisting of a few steps surrounding a field which in places was bare of fresh grass, not to mention its condition on rainy days.
However, they were a diverse team of local boys, who worked hard and then trained just as hard while also dreaming big!

Front view of "Labinoti" stadium in Elbasan!

In Albania, football, although the most popular and most followed sport, is semi-professional. The players work just like everyone else and then after practice the profession of football players.

With the dawn of the new season, 1983-1984, experts and commentators were unanimous in their predictions: the big teams would dominate as had happened in every previous championship, which they would encounter some difficulties, but in the end, they would manage to discuss the title among themselves. Partizani, Dinamo, Vllaznia and 17 Nentori!!!

But here in this group of four giants, maybe would join Flamurtari, which had long since become a rival of the big teams.

What about Labinoti?

Labinoti, although not a great winner, had created a rich history until 1984, when it would be crowned champion for the first time.

The team had participated under the name "Bashkimi" in the first official football championship (after the war) which started on September 2, 1945, continuing with the editions from 1946 to 1950 (under the name Elbasani), 1951,1952, 1954, 1955 (under the name Puna); In 1958, the team returned to the first category (under the name Labinoti) to remain among the best until the end of the 90s.

Until 1984, Labinoti had registered as a participant in the First Category, three times 4th place: 1961 / 1963-64 / 1970-71; four times 5th place: 1962-63 / 1965-66 / 1971-72 / 1974-75; while in other editions (1958-1983) the team was mainly ranked in the middle and last places of the table;

Winner of the Republic Cup: 1975, defeating Lokomotiva in the finals twice (1-0). While in 1980 they lost the finals to Partizan (1-1 / 0-1)
Champion of the Second Category: 1958

That`s all!

Labinoti - The Winners of the Albanian "Republic Cup" in 1975!

No one would count, Labinoti….!
But the yellow and blue of Elbasan, apparently, had other plans, which even they themselves would probably not believe...

No one could have imagined that a perfect storm of determination, teamwork and pure luck was about to engulf the first category, leaving the giants one after the other behind.

Labinoti was on a mission to prove that, in the beautiful game, anything is possible...

The ball is round, and the game is never over!

The story of Labinoti becoming Albanian Champion for the first time is too good to be true! Before the start of this season, no one would have believed it, and people would even have laughed if someone had the courage to predict such a thing.

Even during the championship, most people had the impression that Labinoti, due to their lack of experience, would not last long and would not be able to make it to the end.

On the contrary, Labinoti, in contrast to all skeptics, managed to break the hegemony of the four teams that traditionally won the title, becoming the first Albanian champion team, like no other before, after 26 weeks, tiring, difficult and arduous matches, filled with emotions, tears, sweat, joy for every victory and of course with the bitter taste of defeat, during a balanced championship with 14 participating teams and with the value of two points for victory.

A championship with rivalry shows that in Albanian football during the 80s there are no weak teams where the big ones can win easily, and almost every match results in a final in itself, especially for the Elbasan footballers led by their coach Frederik Jorgaqi, who present a dignified, rational, qualitative football, with a physical-tactical composition in contrast to the beautiful, technical and attacking football that brought this season the disappointment of giants such as 17 Nentori, Partizani, Vllaznia, Flamurtari and even Dinamo who narrowly escaped relegation!

The fact of being a balanced and high-level championship was proven in the losses of 17 Nentori in Stalin City (Kucove) against Naftetari (1-2); Partizani in Tirana, also against Naftetari (0-3); Vllaznia in Shkoder against 31 Korriku (0-1) in week 13; Dinamo in Elbasan against Labinoti (0-2); Partizani in Tirana (2-5) against Luftetari in week 21st and against Labinoti 1-2…
Draws, 3-3 of Dinamo in Tirana against Naftetari in week 19; 17 Nentori against Tomorri in Tirana 1-1 in week 24.

* * *
The period 1984-1985 will be the time of the teams that will be crowned champions for the first time. Platini's France, with Tigana, Giresse, Fernandes will win the first European title (1984) and a year later, 1985, just like the Albanian Labinoti, with the same uniform, yellow and blue, as well as Verona that will win the Scudetto for the first time in the history of the Serie "A" , the title of the most beautiful championship in the world of the neighboring country, Italy!!!

1
The Championship begins
The defending champions are the Shkodra team “Vllaznia”, which they won the title after the final game of the last season, snatching it from rival Partizan, who needed the victory but did not go further than a 1-1 draw against “Besa” after a match in Kavaja with lots of light and shadow, the result will later give way to controversy and suspicions of interference by a minister (M. A) of the Party in favor of Vllaznia!

But still Vllaznia with an excellent ensemble that it had created, they fully deserved the champion title even they, together with Partizan, finished the championship both with equal points, 34!!!
Last season, 17 Nentori was in third place, Flamurtari in fourth place. Dinamo in 8th place and.....Labinoti, ranked in 9th place with 24 points!
* * *
It is August 28, 1983!
The date when the new season starts and along with it the show "From One Match to Another / "Nga njera ndeshje ne tjetren" hosted by well-known journalist Ahmet Shqarri (foto below).

Labinoti starts very well with a clean score of 3-0, immediately reaching the lead, while from the four usual contenders, two win and two lose!

Difficult ones, however, are the victories of 17 Nentori (3-2) over Luftetari and that of Dinamo (1-0) over Besa. Vllaznia in Durres (0-2) and Partizani in Korca (1-3) they both fall.

In the second week, Flamurtari breaks Labinoti's dream by defeating 3-0 in Vlora and together with Lokomotiva, who wins in Kucove, against Naftetari (2-0), they have taken first place with full points 4 each after two consecutive victories.

While the card match of the week is won by Partizani that defeats its historical rival Dinamo 2-1! 17 Nentori, doesn't go any further than a goalless 0-0 draw in Lushnje against Traktori! Vllaznia, the reigning champion, loses again, this time 0-2 in Berat against Tomorri.

Week three!
Lokomotiva has built a strong team this season, with Hado and the two Ballgjini brothers, alongside are Hima, Kapedani, Filjari, Koka, Miha, proven that after the first three weeks it is the only one in first place, leading the championship with full points, 6, this time after the victory in Durres against Tomorri (2-1), but the Durres team will not stay at the top table for long.

Lokomotiva of Durres, one of the best 11 starters of the 80-ties!

Others: Flamurtari, stopped by 17 Nentori 0-0, losing the lead. Finally, Vllaznia (5-1) against Besa in Shkoder. With a goal from Mitrollari, Labinoti returns to victory against Naftetari, (1-0). Partizan's victory 2-1 in Burrel against "31 Korriku" and Dinamo only 2-2 in Tirana against Luftetari. In third place there are 4 teams with 4 points: Skenderbeu, 17 Nentori, Labinoti and Partizan.

In the 4th week, the top table leader changes. Lokomotiva 's first place is now taken by Flamurtari, who wins 1-0 in Vlora against Skenderbeu. Labinoti, with another goal from Mitrollari and again with a narrow 1-0, defeats Lokomotiva in Elbasan and even ties the Durresi team with 6 points, in second place.

The mos important match of the week is Partizani-Vllaznia (2-1), with the reds also after this victory ranking in second place, with 6 points, the same as Lokomotiva and Labinoti.

The loss of 17 Nentori in Stalin City (Kucova), against Naftetari (1-2) and the draw in Lushnje of Dinamo (1-1) stand out, where the blue jerseys in these four weeks has shown weakness, ranking in 8th place with 4 points.

Week 5 is played on October 2, 1983. Flamurtari loses to Dinamo (0-2) in Tirana, while 17 Nentori beats Labinoti with the same result (2-0) also in Tirana. Lokomotiva cannot win against Besa in Durres (0-0); Partizani also draws 0-0 in Berat, making that after these results, the leaders are three teams with 7 points: Lokomotiva; Flamurtari and Partizani.
Behind them with 6 points are four teams: Dinamo, 17 Nentori, Skenderbeu, Labinoti! This week, the heavy victory of Vllaznia over Luftetari (5-1) in “Vojo Kushi” Stadium, stands out!

After the 6th week, the leaders are two, Flamurtari who won 2-0 against
"31 Korriku" in Vlora and Partizani with the minimal 1-0 victory in Tirana against Besa. 9 points each!

Lokomotiva seems to have lost the brilliance of the first weeks as they lose in Tirana (1-2) against 17 Nëntori who rises to second place with 8 points.
Labinoti has the same number of points after winning this week 2-0 in Elbasan against Skenderbeu! Labinoti, so far, has shown a form with ups and downs and maybe even they themselves would not understand the change that will come after this week. Dinamo does not go further than a 0-0 goalless in Kucove, while Vllaznia wins in Lushnje (1-0)!

It is October 16, 1983. The historical date that marks the turning point for Labinoti, who, after the victory in Tirana in the 7th week against Dinamo, take the top of the standings alone with 10 points!

Labinoti of the season 1983-1984

A match that will later result in the start of Elbasan as title contenders, as they lead 2-0 after an own goal by Ndreu and Luniku. Demollari scoring from 11 meters only reduces the difference to 1-2!

After Labinoti, in second place with 9 points each are Flamurtari, who was defeated in Shkoder 1-2 against the local Vllaznia; Lokomotiva, who defeated Partizan in Durres (2-1); 17 Nentori, after the draw in Korce 1-1 as well as Partizani!

In the 8th week, played on October 23, 1983, the championship entered an interesting phase and Labinoti will continue its journey as the leader.
Again 1-0, (Tafani) the Elbasan team wins against "31 Korriku", enough to stay at the top of the standings, even two points more than second place, something that had never happened before in the history of Labinoti.

17 Nentori - Dinamo share a disappointing 0-0 in the card match for this week. 0-0 were the other two meetings, Flamurtari-Tomorri and Luftetari-Partizani; Lokomotiva falls (0-2) in Korca against Skenderbeu, and only 1-1 Naftetari-Vllaznia in this week where only 7 goals were scored!!!

The standings read like this: Labinoti 12 points, Flamurtari, 17 Nentori, Partizani 10 points; Vllaznia, Lokomotiva and Skenderbeu 9 points.

In the 9th week in Shkoder, the card game between Vllaznia and Labinoti is played, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. The Elbasan team continues to lead the standings with 13 points.

Partisan’s victory (1-0) against Traktori places them in second position with
12 points; 17 Nëntori loses ground, stopping in Burrel against "31 Korriku" (1-1).
Nice victory of Lokomotiva, 4-2 against Luftetari in Durres, which together with 17 Nëntori share third place with 11 points; In fourth place are three teams with 10 points: Vllaznia; Flamurtari (which lost this week in Kavaje 0-1) and Skënderbeu.

2.
Week 10 - 13!
The championship is already open for the title!
Everyone is now waiting for Labinoti to collapse, or so they think, but it won't happen that way.

On November 7th, the 10th week takes place, where Labinoti after the 2-0 victory (Luniku and Agalliu) in Elbasan against Tomorri continues its lead with 15 points, restoring the difference of +2 points from the second place currently occupied by 17 Nentori who won in Shkoder 1-0 and Partizani after the draw in Vlora with Flamurtari (0-0).

Six goals are scored in the Dinamo-Lokomotiva match (3-3)!
“Dinamovites” are still in decline in 8th place with 10 points, while Lokomotiva is positioned in 4th place with 12 points.

The 11th week, which took place on November 29, 1983, turned out to be a round of surprises. Among other things, it marked the historic 3-0 victory of Naftetari in Tirana against Partizan!

This week, Labinoti also lost (0-1) in Kavaja against Besa; Flamurtari lost again in Gjirokaster 1-3; Vllaznia in Shkoder (1-2) against Skenderbeu, while 17 Nentori drew in Berat (0-0) and Lokomotiva was the only one of the pursuers to win 2-0 against Traktori.

But Labinoti remains at the top table with 15 points, regardless of the loss, followed by Lokomotiva e 17 Nentori (14 points); Skenderbeu e Partizan
(13 points)!

Two weeks to go before the end of the first phase. On December 4, 1983, the main match of the week and perhaps the entire first phase is played in Elbasan. Labinoti – Partizani.

The first to take the lead are the locals on the side from Arapi, but towards the end of this challenge, the voice of commentator Sefedin Allkja is heard intervening to take the line in the beautiful show “From one match to another”:
“Excuse me, colleague Shqarri!
Allkja continues like this:
“Partizan has so many protagonists ...the ball went to Tomorri who intervened there in a scramble at the Elbasan goal, tying the match at 1-1”!

The other matches ends like this:
Dinamo-Vllaznia 1-1; 17 Nentori-Besa 1-1;
Flamurtari-Traktori 0-0; 31 Korriku – Lokomotiva 1-0;
Skenderbeu – Tomorri 1-0!

Thanks to these results that bring luck to Labinoti, who have dropped three points in two weeks, the leader does not change!

The rise of Skenderbeu in second place with equal points with 17 Nentori (15), followed by Lokomotiva and Partizani with 14 points…
Flamurtari, Vllaznia and Dinamo lose ground!

Week 13, the final of the first phase to determine the Winter Champion.
December 11, 1983.
Again, Labinoti's followers fail, while the team of Elbasan draw in Gjirokaster
(1-1) against Luftetari, who, through Boni, equalizes Staceni's goal with a penalty.

Partizani – 17 Nentori 0-0; Besa – Skenderbeu 1-0
Lokomotiva – Flamurtari 0-0.

Vllaznia, the defending champion, ends the first phase even worse, losing in Shkoder 0-1 against Burreli's "31 Korriku", the underdog team who came this season from the second league!!!
Wow!!!

Labinoti has dropped two more points and has three matches without a win (two draws and one loss), but in any case, the followers' performance brings luck to the players of Elbasan team, who manage to emerge as Winter Champions!
Half of the way has been successfully completed.

Standings:
Labinoti 19 points, (8 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses, goal 17-10),
17 Nëntori 17 points, Skënderbeu and Partizani 15 points!

Meanwhile, the fight for relegation from the bottom of the table has begun: Naftetari, Traktori, 31 Korriku with 11 points and last, Tomorri with 10 points!

* * *
The year 1984 will start with the "Republic Cup", its 31st edition.
16 teams are participating.

In the second round, Labinoti plays with Besëlidhja. The first leg held in Lezha was dominated in all directions by the locals, but it was the goalkeeper Gogunja who saved several difficult situations in his goal and 0-0 was the score at the end.

To record the surprise in the return, when no one would have expected it, the surprise is called “Besëlidhja”, which will eliminate Labinoti, giving a good lesson to the “Champions of the Winter”!

Beselidhja will win 2-1 in Elbasan, with goals scored by: Rama (B), Mitrollari (L) and Sokoli (B). A 1984 that did not start well, but that will not end like that for the people of Elbasan.

Beselidhja of the 80-ties!

3.
Second Phase!
Weeks 14 - 20!
The second phase begins on February 18, 1984. Labinoti understands that it cannot always depend on luck, and goes and wins in Lushnje 2-0 (Mitrollari and Bega), even though its pursuers continue to stop each other.

17 Nentori draws (1-1) in Gjirokaster and Partizan (0-0) in Tirana against Skenderbeu. Lokomotiva also stops (0-1) in Shkoder. Flamurtari wins (2-0) in Vlora against Naftetari and Besa against Dinamo in Kavaje (1-0).

Meanwhile, Labinoti maintains the difference in points at the top of the table with + 2, from 17 Nentori who has 17 points, from Skenderbeu and Partizan
(16 points).

The ranking appears narrow at its end. Naftetari, Traktori and 31 Korriku, who are fighting to avoid relegation, all have 11 points, one point more than Tomorri, who closes the table with 10 points.

It is February 19, 1984, when the 15th week is played!
There are two main matches of this week, in Elbasan where the leaders are apparently already familiar with the minimal 1-0 victory, this time against Flamurtari, and the other match in Tirana where Partizani wins with the same score against Dinamo 1-0.

For Labinoti now in the second phase, Zyber Bega, who came from Turbina, is starting to appear more and more as a goal scorer, where together with the interventions of goalkeeper Gogunja, they will affect Labinoti 's progress.

The victories of 17 Nentori against Traktori (4-1) and Lokomotiva against Naftetari 3-0 are convincing. While Skenderbeu does not go further than a 0-0 against Luftetari in Korca.

What`s going on with the champions of Vllaznia?
Another unexpected loss, in Shkoder against the last place, Tomorri (0-1).

Labinoti still maintains the lead with +2 points over 17 Nentori who has
19 points; behind them comes Partizani with 18 points, Lokomotiva and Skenderbeu with 17 points.

At the bottom of the table is now Traktori and Naftetari with 11 points, one more point has Tomorri (12 points); 31 Korriku and Vllaznia now have 13 points.

Week 16!
Again 1-0 victory for Labinoti, this time in Kucove, and again the scorer is Bega (67`). Goalkeeper Gogunja, has been keeping a clean sheet for three weeks, no goals conceded.

Labinoti's followers, 17 Nentori who drew in Vlora (1-1) and Partizan who beats "31 Korriku" in Tirana (3-0) are three points behind the leader (20 each) who is suprising everyone. After them comes three other teams, all three with 17 equal points, Lokomotiva, Besa, Skenderbeu!

Dinamo, with the lost in Gjirokaster (0-1), continues to disappoint this season, in 9th place with 14 points. Same goes for  Vllaznia, which also lost in Kavaje
(0-1), and now is in 11th place with 13 points, as many as Traktori and
"31 Korriku", both are fighting for survival in the first category!
Naftetari remains at the bottom with 11 points.

In the 17th week, Labinoti travels to Durres where the team is hosted by “Lokomotiva” with a lineup that is perhaps one of the best in the history of this club: Maliqati, Sejdini, Koka, Cela, Jani, H. Ballgjini, Miha, Hado, Hima and Sh. Ballgjini, not in vain this season is among the contenders.

The game starts quickly, where both teams try to snatch the victory from each other. Something more Lokomotiva, but its players face the organized defense of Elbasan and a safe goalkeeper like Gogunja who collects the 4th week without conceding a goal. Thus the match ends “scoreless” 0-0!

Labinoti always leads with 24 points. 17 Nentori, defeats Naftetari (2-0) and is behind by two points in the distance. In third place with 21 points, Partizan remains, unable to overcome Vllaznia in Shkoder (0-0). Skenderbeu, after defeating Flamurtari 2-0 in Korca, is now in 4th place with 19 points.

Something is moving in the last places of the table:
The incredible situation of Dinamo and Vllaznia! The two giants of Albanian Football are alongside by underdogs "31 Korriku" and "Traktori", who want to get out of the relegation zone. Traktori gets a goalless draw in Tirana against Dinamo, and together with Vllaznia they both have 14 points and continue to risk relegation!

The victory of "31 Korriku" in Burrel against Luftetari (2-0) stands out, who is currently moving out of the risk zone (distanced by one point) by accumulating 15 points so far, as much as Dinamo has!

Coincidentally, the 18th week is played on March 18, 1984, a date that holds a decisive match for the progress of the title contenders.

In Elbasan, right before the kick off the match, Labinoti-17 Nentori. The two team captains: Mema (17 Nentori) and Lleshi (Labinoti)

In Elbasan, Labinoti-17 Nentori, the first place against the second!
A challenge that has an extraordinary interest.

Everyone has their attention on this clash but, another goalless draw 0-0, for the leaders who stand out for their strong defense and the protagonist goalkeeper Gogunja who has now reached five matches without conceding a single goal.

From this draw, Partizan benefits after having defeated 2-0 in Tirana, Tomorri of Kovaci, Mile, Kokalari, Cilingiri, the Arben and Teodor Arberi brothers, equals with 23 points. 17 Nentori being now only two points behind the leading Labinoti.

Meanwhile, the relegation zone has widened this week.
Dinamo loses in Vlora (0-1); Vllaznia wins in Gjirokaster (1-0); Traktori also defeats 31 Korriku 1-0, results that bring an honorable situation.

From the 8th to the 13th place there are 6 teams with only one point difference: Vllaznia, Tomorri, Traktori, Luftetari all have 16 points;
Dinamo, 31 Korrikun have 15 points. The fate of Naftetari who drew at home against Skenderbeu (0-0), at the bottom of the table with 12 points seems to be determined!

The championship has reached the 19th week which is played on March 25, 1984.

Another 0-0, for Labinoti this time in Korca against the locals of Skenderbeu.
It is the third goalless result for the yellow and blue of Elbasan.
This week, they are lucky because of the loss of 17 Nentori in Durres (2-0) and the draw of Partizan (1-1) in Kavaje, which now becomes the only follower!
Labinoti 26 points; Partizan 24 and 17 Nentori 23!

Gogunja now has 6 weeks without conceding a goal, which makes 540 minutes.

The situation in the last places seems too balanced. Vllaznia, after winning against Traktori 2-0 and Tomorri, who defeated Luftetari 1-0, they both somehow avoided the danger, leaving behind four teams with 16 points each:
Dinamo, who achieved a spectacular draw in Tirana against last place
Naftetari (3-3); Traktori, Luftetari e 31 Korriku (1-1 against Flamurtari).

The top scorers are Bujar Hado (Lokomotiva) with 9 goals.
Next come Lika (Partizani) with 7 goals; Minga, Mema (17 Nentori) and Hima (Lokomotiva) all with 5 goals!

In the 20th week, Labinoti returns to victory after three matches with a 0-0 score! They achieve this in Elbasan while defeating Dinamo 2-0 with goals from Mirollari (47') and Bega (75'). In the presence of 13,500 enthusiastic spectators, both teams played with these formations:

Labinoti:
Gogunja, Arapi, Lleshi, Deliu, Rama, Mustafaraj, Tafani (Staceni 65'), Asllani, Agalliu (Popa 60'), Bega, Mitrollarin.
Dinamo: Luarasi, Meçe, Targaj, Ndreu (Mërgjyshi 37'), Kuqi, Delia, Demollari, Duka (Abazi 78'), Topçiu, Ikonomi, Marko.
Referee: V.Ikonomi
Spectators: 13,500.
Gogunja again keeps his goal net untouched!

Victory of the two closest followers, Partizan (1-0) against Lokomotiva in Tirana and 17 Nëntori 5-1 against Skenderbeu!
Labinoti continues to lead with 28 points, Partizan has 26 points and
17 Nëntori 25 points!

The dangerous zone of the table has this appearance from places 10-14:
Luftetari and 31 Korriku have both 17 points each; Dinamo and Traktori with
16 points and closing the standings is Naftetari 14!

4.
Labinot achieves its goal
Week 21-26
A week later, on the 21st, Labinoti travels to Burrel where they win against
locals “31 Korriku” 1-0 with a goal by Asllani in the 8th minute, after a very difficult match where goalkeeper Gogunja stands out and is on his way to a historic record!

This is the week of a heavy defeat for Partizan in Tirana, this time against Luftetari (2-5)!

Luftetari team of the 80-ties!

The Tirana “derby” match between Dinamo-17 Nentori is won 1-0 by the white and blue jerseys of the “nentoras” who now climb to second place with 27 points, three less than Labinoti who has the lead with 30 points.

Partizan slips to third place with 26 points.

The relegation zone after this week shows that Dinamo is in big trouble, remaining second to last with 16 points, while Naftetari after the draw in Shkoder (1-1) has one less, 15 points, closing the table after 21 weeks!

It is April 22, 1984.
Now in Elbasan it is the turn of Vllaznia to play to stop Labinoti. But not even the Shkodra team can do anything about it. Labinoti wins 1-0. And here it is again Bega, scoring precisely in the last minutes when we all expected a goalless draw. To mention is a big chance of Bushati of Vllaznia who failed in front of the goalkeeper Gogunja!

Now Labinoti has 32 points. 17 Nentori, after winning against 31 Korriku (2-0), follows with 29 points. In third place is Partizani with 27 points, which does not go further than a 1-1 draw in Lushnje against Traktori.

While the other two challenges for relegation from the category:
Naftetari wins 1-0 against Tomorri, escaping last place;

Dinamo only 0-0 in Korca against a strong Skenderbeu this season but not sustainable! The last three places in the standings: Dinamo, Naftetari and
31 Korriku with 17 points!!!

After the defeats of Flamurtari (0-1), Skenderbeu (0-1), and the draw of Lokomotiva (1-1), in the 23rd week, the hopes of 17 Nentori and Partizan, two already confirmed followers of Labinoti, were raised, right when the Elbasan team drew 0-0 in Berat against Tomorri.

The chronicle of the time shows that it was a difficult draw for Labinoti, where captain Ferdinand Lleshi, Deliu, but above all goalkeeper Bujar Gogunja stood out, they withstood the pressure of the locals, quite well, supported by an extremely passionate fan base. The clearest chance for Tomorri came in the 30th minute, when Perparim Kovaci, the outstanding striker, shot beautifully towards the angle of the Elbasan team's goal, but Gogunja, in readiness, flew there, skillfully deflecting the ball into the corner. 0-0, which once again confirms Labinot's strong defense, the best in the championship that has only conceded 10 goals so far!

“17 Nentori” wins 3-1 in Shkoder against Vllaznia and Partizan 1-0 in Tirana against Flamurtari. Thus, the difference of the leader from 3 becomes 2 points when there are still three weeks to go.

On the contrary, a lot of interest has been received by the matches of the teams fighting for survival at the bottom of the table. From the 10th to the 14th place the difference is only two points. Vllaznia, after the loss against “17 Nentori”, which returns to the nightmare this week.

Traktori, who gets a 1-1 draw in Gjirokaster, and 31 Korriku after defeating Skenderbeu in Burrel 1-0, all three of them have 19 points each.

Meanwhile, Dinamo, which did not go further than a difficult draw in
Durres (1-1), even though it knocked out Lokomotiva from the title race,
has 18 points but continues to remain in danger! With the loss in Kavaje, against Besa, Naftetari returns to last place alone with 17 points!!

The championship has now reached the final 270 minutes.
Labinoti has three more challenges left to confirm the championship title.

On May 6, 1984, on the green carpet of the “Labinoti” stadium in Elbasan, the locals in the presence of more than 15,000 spectators play against Besa of Kavaja who have taken to the field with this line up: Shkurti, Simaku, Karriqi, Çela, Xhihani, Idrizi, Kazazi, Pagria, Ramici, Shala, Mullaliu, Bajaziti and Duro.

Until the 88th minute the score is 0-0, but here the legendary captain Lleshi jumps beautifully with his head, scoring the only goal and achieving a 1-0 victory that has now become common for Labinoti who has now put a hand to the Championship Cup. Meanwhile, Gogunja reaches 995 minutes without conceding a goal!

His pursuers, who should not have made a mistake in the final steps, have lost ground. 17 Nentori in Tirana is stopped 1-1 against Tomorri. Partizan loses at all in Kucove (1-2) against Naftetari who has become a nightmare for them this season, leaving no more claims for the title.

Thus, Labinoti returns to the three points of the lead with 35 of them.
17 Nentori is second, with 32 points and with a faint hope of catching the Elbasan team.

At the bottom of the table, the danger expands to include places 9 to 14, two weeks towards the end where none of the six teams in this zone feel safe.

Vllaznia, Traktori, Luftetari all have 21 points each. Vllaznia won (1-0) in Korce, Traktori won 3-0 in Lushnje convincingly against Lokomotiva, while Luftetari, with a heavy 1-4 defeat in Vlora, is involved in the fight for existence.

Dinamo won 3-0 against its rivals in this existence, "31 Korriku" and holds the 12th place. Naftetari, although it won against Partizan, shares alongside with
"31 Korriku" the last places, 13th and 14th, with 19 points each.

May 13, 1984!
The penultimate week, the 25th, holds the decisive challenge for the championship title:
Partizani - Labinoti, favored more by the Elbasan guests, where each of their victories declares them champions one week before the end!

Everyone has turned their attention to this competition that is broadcast live by TVSH, led by commentator and sports journalist Vladimir Grillo.

Meanwhile, through the radio waves, Ahmet Shqarri hosts the now traditional show "Nga njera ndeshje ne tjetren", where the greatest concentration will be given to the distinguished commentator, professor Ismet Bellova, especially for this competition!

The "Qemal Stafa" stadium is also full with the arrival of Elbasan fans to follow their team, and to be present on the most historic day for their Labinoti and for Elbasan football!

In an electrified environment, both teams take to the field under the enthusiastic applause of 12,300 spectators and under the guidance of the best referee of the Albanian football judging committee as well as the international category, Mr. Arsen Hoxha and his two colleagues, Papa and Toska!

PARTIZANI: Musta, Eksarko, Ahmetaj, Hysi, Ocelli, Rrapo (Lika 46’), Duro, Lame, Skuro (Çuçi 63’), Tomorri, Gega. Coach: Bejkush Birçe
LABINOTI: Gogunja, Arapi, Lleshi, Deliu, Rama, Popa, Mustafaraj, Asllani, Tafani, Agalliu, Luniku (Bega 46’). Coach: Frederik Jorgaqi

And here, in the 36th minute, Asllani scores for Labinoti. 1-0!
However, six minutes later, (42`) Genci Tomorri equalizes the match 1-1!

The ones who are happy now are the Partizan fans who escort both teams to the locker rooms at half-time! With the goal conceded, goalkeeper Gogunja will set a record of 1037 minutes!

Labinoti` s goalkeeper record men, Bujar Gogunja!

In the second half, the Elbasan fans continue to believe by supporting their boys without rest, who are playing well, organized in a strong, unstoppable defense, where the confident Gogunja stands out, Deliu, Arapi always more and more towards the attack, the energetic Asllani, captain Lleshi already in his mature phase who virtually directs his teammates, the tireless Tafani, Mustafaraj who shows his technical gifts, Popa with his freshness in support of Agalliu who is fighting on every ball, the fast Luniku and Bega who has the intuition of a real goal scorer.

And there it was, Bega in the 72nd minute scored a goal that will remain long in the memory of the Labinoti of Elbasan football.

Goal! 2-1!

Ecstasy of the fans, witnesses of a historical event, a dream that comes from afar, designed and turned into reality by the boys of coach Frederik Jorgaqi.

Labinoti, is the Champion of Albania!!!
37 Points; 15 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses, with a goal difference of 26-11 (+15).
The difference from the followers will be this:
+4 points from 17 Nentori, +8 points from Partizani, +10 points from Flamurtari and +12 from Lokomotiva!

A truth just like the sunlight that few or more precisely, no one would believe before the start of this championship.

The boys of Labinoti, newly crowned champions, greet their fans who perhaps still do not believe in this miracle!

Labinoti players celebrating right after their win in Tirana against the giant of Partisan (2-1)

It is their first title, but also first, in the entire history of Albanian football, the champion title had never before gone beyond the borders of the cities
of Tirana-Shkoder!

Here is why the title of "Labinoti" is the most beautiful, most interesting, most exalting, most achieved and most unique to remain in the annals of Albanian football history, but why not in the world one, where small teams manage to win alone against all the giants.

Rare and destined to remain long in every era of time, convinced that the first crowning of the champion for Labinoti will be remembered with nostalgia and be remembered more than the countless titles won by Partizan, Dinamo,
17 Nentori or even those of Vllaznia!

Meanwhile, the fight for survival in the first category still remains open.
After these results:
Vllaznia-Dinamo 0-0; Luftetari-Naftetari 0-0;
Traktori-Flamurtari 1-1; Lokomotiva – 31 Korriku 1-1, from 9th to 14th place,
six teams live with the anxiety of the final 90 minutes.
Vllaznia, Traktori, Luftetari have 22 points each! Dinamo 21 points.
At the end are Naftetari and 31 Korriku with 20 points each!

The defender Luan Deliu, celebrates with the Championship Cup.

The Captain of Labinoti, Ferdinand Lleshi is celebrating with the Championship trophy his 1-st ever title!

May 20, 1984!
In Elbasan, the championship title celebration has already begun even though the locals, Labinoti, loses heavily 0-3 against Luftetari, which escapes survival in the first category.

In the last week, it remains only to be decided which teams will leave the first category this season, and everything else belong only to statistics.

Thus, the loss of “31 Korriku” in Burrel (0-2) against Vllaznia will prove fatal for the “matiane” team, which categorically leaves the first league!

Attention in the last week was focused entirely on the most interesting race between the two rivals to stay in the category, in Stalin City,
Naftetari- Traktori 2-0!

Now Traktori will have to play two additional matches with the second place classified in the second league, more precisely against Apolonia, the charming team from Fier that will still need a little time to wait to join the category of the best with players like Stefa, Majaci, Tole, Bita, Kokuri.

Thanks to the 2-0 victory in Lushnje on May 23, even though it lost the second (0-1 on May 30), Traktori celebrates its position among the best!

At the end, Vasil Ruci is the top scorer of this championship with 12 goals!

Thus falls the curtain of the 1984-1985 season, which coincides with the 38th edition of the National Football Championship (after the war).

"Labinoti" with the championship medals!

Now one thing is certain and unchangeable, that Elbasan has won its first championship title and will be remembered as “Labinoti”, the winning team with full merits for the 1983-1984 season!

The names of those guys who sound good as Albanian champions are these:
Coaches: Frederik Jorgaqi (1942-2007) and Dashamir Stringa,
Goalkeepers: Bujar Gogunja (1957-2022) and Muharrem Dosti (1964), Shkelqim Asllani (1963), Ardian Popa (1962), Zamir Arapi (1962), Luan Deliu (1958), Sokol Branica (1962), Sokol Gjuraj (1963), Ferdinand Lleshi (1956), Kostandin Rama (1961-2020), Albert Kaloti (1962), Kastriot Vrapi (1966), Vladimir Tafani (1964), Jovan Shegani (1961), Dashamir Luniku (1962), Zyber Bega (1961), Stravri Mirollari (1961), Roland Agalliu (1961), Bashkim Staceni (1959), Edmond Mustafaraj (1959) and Edmond Kela (1967).
